This was genuinely the worst game in the postseason. The Patriots, that were carried by their easy schedule, barely won against a team that had their backup quarterback starting. This was also the second worst possible matchup for the conference championship.
This game started off with both teams punting, which happened a lot. The Broncos were able to get a touchdown to get a 0-7 lead which lasted them the whole quarter. The next key moment to happen was in the second quarter when the Broncos fumbled the ball.
The fumble happened on Denver’s 12-yard line, which led to the Patriots getting a touchdown. That touchdown was lucky, which is ironic because the Patriots playoff run this season has been nothing but pure luck and questionable refereeing, but that also sums up the team’s whole season.
After two consecutive punts, Denver attempts a 54-yard field goal and misses. The Patriots then get ball and are also held to a 63-yard field goal, the kicker blasts the ball wide left, a horrible field goal attempt from the luckiest team in the league.
The Patriots start off the second half by getting a 23-yard field goal to take the lead and make the score 10-7. After another failed drive from Denver, the Patriots go for another field goal, this one being a 46-yard attempt which their bum of a kicker misses again.
The game then continues with punts until the Broncos go for a 45-yard field goal attempt, which gets blocked by the Patriots and their black magic. On the Broncos final drive, backup quarterback Jarret Stidham throws an interception that the defense caught by pure luck.
The game ended 10-7 with the Patriots winning. This is a horrible outcome, especially because the Patriots are going to get blown out by the winner of the NFC conference championship game anyway.
