Here are some tips and tricks I have to get them to try things with you.
My smallest sibling is a toddler and he is 2 years old. Every toddler likes going outside and exploring new things, but they also can’t run fast, read or play board games. Sometimes they don’t even know how to talk yet. In order to prepare every activity you have to start with making sure their diaper is changed and have the right clothing for going outside. It might get messy out there.
One activity I tried with my 2 year old sibling was making an outdoor mini pond. You can use a plastic grocery bag (with no holes) and something to dig dirt with like a shovel a stick or a piece of wood. Collect some rocks and find a spot you want to make your pond. Now you can walk around with your siblings and look for rocks show him what a rock is and help them explore the different shapes and colors. Just make sure he doesn’t pick up anything but the rocks. You’ll use these rocks to decorate around your mini pond.
Next you can start digging up your pond. Dig a hole and use the plastic bag to make the “pond”. Cover the sides of the bag with dirt on the top surface of the pond, add a little water to the dirt to help it stay in place. Pat it down and pour water into the hole with the plastic bag. Make the water a little dirty and make sure the bag doesn’t fly away.
Then add the rocks around the outside. You can decorate it with sticks or other stuff. Now your pond is finished it’s not going to be perfect, but now you have spent time with your toddler sibling and both of you had fun. You can also make a pile of rocks and sticks, surround a tree, or your house with rocks.
You can use this idea to help your toddler siblings explore more of the outside world and spend more time with them while both of you have fun and enjoy time together.
