The story, being set in 1908, gives the story depth by showing how long Pennywise has been tormenting the people of Derry, Maine. Young Francis is at a fair with his father when he stumbles upon a “fun house” and upon going inside he’s already fearful then he meets a gaunt one-eyed man, an early form of Pennywise. He finds himself back outside and runs into his father, his father then gave him a slingshot which played a huge role in this episode. Francis’s dad gave him some more money to get some water to cool their engine off but he did not have enough. We meet Rose, he gives Rose the slingshot.
Lily opens to getting ready to leave Juniper Hill, Ronnie is struggling to stay stable with her father being wrongfully accused and in prison. Lily comes up with a plan, get a photo of Pennywise or one of his illusions to get proof that Ronnie’s dad is innocent and that Lily isn’t crazy. Ronnie then finds Will and Rich and asks them for their help. Will, Rich, Lily, and Ronnie all meet up at a cemetery, and Rich trying to fit in makes up something to access demonic spirits, that not working Lily and Ronnie try and leave with Will and Rich following behind them.
Pennywise attacks the kids and taunts them with some of our dead previous characters such as Teddy, Suzie, and Matty, they barely escape, getting proof. They then go to the school to the red room to process the pictures they took, revealing who was all there with them. They then find out “IT” is a clown, a dangerous one. Another encounter happens with Dick Halloran. While holding the slingshot it causes him to connect mentally with Pennywise. Overall, a great episode giving other cast members a chance to stick out, and finally start showing us Pennywise.
